MY COLLEGE DEGREES & CERTIFICATIONS, TEACHING AND/OR PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
I am from Barranquilla, a city located in the north coast of my home country of Colombia. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of Simon Bolivar and am also certified to teach Early Childhood. I have had a diverse professional career, including four years of experience in the education field. Here in the United States, I have worked as a Lead Teacher in a Child Development Center.
MY EXPECTATIONS FOR MY CLASSROOM THIS YEAR
I have a true passion for working in the education field! When I can help each child progress with reading and comprehension, we are able to help them develop in academics, socialization and language. This is a challenge that I am honored to accept daily. I believe that the best enrichment of knowledge is through reading. My expectation for this year is to provide support so that children love to read in English and Spanish.
MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a safe, caring, and stimulating environment in which to grow emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. As an educator, it is my desire to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas. As a Reading Specialist and Hispanic Liaison, I want to promote respect for all things and all people. I want to act as a guide, and also I want to help students to develop respect for themselves and others, in order to impact positive social changes.
