MY COLLEGE DEGREES & CERTIFICATIONS, TEACHING AND/OR PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

I have a Bachelors Degree in History and a Masters Degree in Education, both from New Mexico State University.  I did two years of service with Foodcorps (in NM and Moore County, NC) where I helped teach gardening, plant science, cooking and many other things. I have worked at over 20 schools (2 in NC) and helped build 15+ school gardens.

MY EXPECTATIONS FOR MY CLASS ROOM THIS YEAR

I expect to explore the world around us as a class.  I expect by year’s end for each student to not be afraid to ask questions and always want to know more about the world. I want my students to never back down from a challenge, and to do their best, and if necessary try again.

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

My teaching philosophy is one I am constantly developing; but to sum it up I want to work alongside students as they learn, serving as a facilitator and mentor. I want to instill the skills they will need in school and in life and to help them discover what they are passionate about in life.

MY HOBBIES, INTERESTS & THINGS I DO OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL

Farming/gardening, fishing, reading, movies, Frisbee golf, kayaking, traveling.

SOMETHING PEOPLE MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO LEARN ABOUT ME

I know a little bit of Spanish.  I grew up in Arizona.  I love spicy food, and I love to cook.
