MINA Charter School of Lee County
At MINA Charter School, we believe that more is now achievable. Our purpose is to empower and inspire students to be lifelong learners, innovative thinkers and global citizens who will be able to compete in a rapidly changing, diverse, and technologically advanced world.
We believe that every student has the ability to learn and the right to become successful in a twenty-first century, digital world. MINA Charter School of Lee County serves as a gateway to educational opportunities that enable students to thrive academically and socially, while acquiring the necessary skills that prepare them for our technologically oriented workforce. At MINA, our students are challenged to solve ‘real-world-problems’ in an environment designed to use technology in a seamless fashion. Our mission is to equip each and every student with skills that are necessary to work with diverse, business partners that may be located locally, nationally, and internationally.
MINA, founded in Sanford, Lee County, the heart of North Carolina, opened in August 2020 for students entering grades K-5. In July 2021, MINA converted to a year-round calendar and added classrooms for sixth graders. By adding an additional grade each year, MINA now serves scholars in grades K-to-8. Specializing in small class sizes, and non-traditional classroom settings, our technologically based educational program begins with Kindergarten. Each student will be assigned either a tablet/laptop as a component of their MINA education.
Our STREAM curriculum focuses on project-based learning integrating Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
Our diverse faculty and staff reflect the educational, cultural, and social needs of our students. Not only are our staff members certified and licensed by the State of North Carolina, but some of them are among the most accomplished educators in their area of expertise. These experts carry out the mandates of our specialized curriculum and our students learn from the best.
At MINA we believe that a child cannot learn if he/she is not present in school, for that reason we promote a non-suspension policy. Our attendance policy excludes the 16 statutory offenses that require suspension such as weapons on campus, drugs, etc.
MINA Charter School provides a state-of-the-art, safe, and secure 21st-century learning environment for all students and staff. More is achievable at MINA where students, teachers, staff, technology, the curriculum, and the learning environment create a great place to learn, achieve, and be challenged. More Is NOW Achievable at MINA!
